Number 7: Panda Bear - Tomboy

Not an Animal Collective release, but it still had some of the same tricks they do that always get me. Great release, wish I could have caught him on tour.

Number 8: Washed Out - Washed Out

I just really resonated with his composition style, mostly. Pristine production as well. It lacked in punch in comparison to some of the other chillwave releases that came out this year, but in some ways that was it’s best quality.

Number 9: Fierce Creatures - I Mostri Feroci

I was sort of surprised that anyone local made this list, but I really can’t deny that this was one of my favorite releases this year. If you’re from the SF Bay Area (or not, really), you should check these guys out. Exceptional band.

She was shown to me by a couple of people that I know, and at first I was a little put off by it, but I totally got the value to it; so I listened more. Turns out it’s pretty genius.

My Favorite Albums of 2011

This is the first time I’m attempting to do this. Every day, I’ll post one album from this year that I consider to be in my top 10. I wanted to give an introductory/hub post for this because I felt like I needed to explain a few things. Firstly, I don’t think that these are the best albums of this year; these are just the ones that I consider to be my favorite this year. Secondly, while these are put into an order on purpose, some of the lines aren’t so definitive. I won’t explain where these are, but I’m trying to avoid “HOW COULD POSSIBLY LIKE _______ BETTER THAN _______”. Chances are, the difference is probably negligible. Thirdly, I’ll be editing this post with links to the posts that I make about each album each day, so you can always check back here if you want a full list view of these. Alright, now that that’s over with, here we go!
